The Bierzo Rojo Verde Negro project, financed by a Proyecto Intramural de Frontera of the CSIC, constitutes one of the first demonstration projects to be developed. Within it, the most successful research line has been the study of the environmental impact of Roman mining activity. This has been analyzed by elaborating a palaeoenvironmental characterization with information coming from the mining areas, including settlements. This has involved carrying out palynological, anthracological and carpological studies, together with palaeocontamination analyses, which has brought together the CSD-TCP groups EST-AP, ARQBIO and EPEC.
