This year, and hopefully in 2014 and 2015, there will be an ERASMUS Intensive Programme under the title HERICT: ICT at the Service of Cultural Heritage. The aim of this project is to enhance the ICT knowledge of cultural heritage experts, in particular archaeology, architecture and geomatics students. The practical training will take place in the site of Kymisala (SW Rhodes). Among the learning outcomes:
Opening of the Joint Research Center for Digital Humanities and Future Cities in Venice, the result of a collaboration project between two prestigious institutions, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, linking computer science and the humanities, and in collaboration with Telecom Italia which will make its technological and service know-how available for specific research and development projects.

CYTED program 2012 call is open from now until April 3rd. This year most funding will go to thematic networks related with the themes included in the 7 research lines currently open.
On June 25-28, 2012 the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU of Barcelona will host the 7th International Conference on Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. Among the topics for the parallel sessions and round tables are: archaeology and the humanities, natural and environmental sciences, technology and applied sciences, research methodologies and interdisciplinary perspectives.
The 10th edition of the international conference on New Directions in the Humanities will take place in June 14-17, 2012, at the Centre Mont-Royal de Montreal (Canadá). This conference has been held annually since 2003, always in a different location. Submission of presentation, workshop or session proposals is currently open.
The Infrared and Raman Users Group (IRUG), a forum for the exchange of infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopic information, reference spectra and materials in relation to heritage, has announced its tenth biennial conference, to be held at the Universitat de Barcelona on March 28th-31st, 2012.
The 7th edition of the postgraduate course La aplicación de las Tecnologías de Información Geográfica en Arqueología ("The application of Geographic Information Technologies in Archaeology") will take place in two steps during the winter of 2012. The first phase will be the beginners module, which, as is customary, will take place in the Instituto de Arqueología de Mérida (IAM, CSIC) on February 13-22, 2012.
