Lis Sanchez is a graduated student in Social Communication mention Humanistic Development at the University of the Andes in Venezuela (2002), the title of her thesis is “La Salsa: La historia de un son irreverente” (Salsa: The history of a irreverent sound), an analysis of this musical movement as a contra-cultural phenomenon that took shape in Latin America and the United States. She worked (2001-2007) as an investigative journalist in Venezuelan newspapers, was initially inclined to social issues and later in cultural matters as coordinator of the section in the Bolivarian News Agency (Venezuelan state news agency). In 2006 she was admitted to the Post Graduate Program of Discourse Studies, in the Universidad Central de Venezuela, where she participated in collective works on racism, specifically in scholar textbooks, and also about gender discrimination in the advertising industry. In 2010 she began the Master of Cultural Differences and Transnational Processes at the University of Vienna, currently she is planning to conduct a research oriented towards racism and mass-media.
