ABSOLUTE DATING TECHNIQUES: APPLICATION ON CULTURAL HERITAGE
The course's main objective is to show the most important techniques about absolute dating, such as dendrochronology, radiocarbon, lichenometry, luminescence, cosmogenic, archaeomagnetism, amino acid racemization, radiometric uranium series, etc.
The course shows to archeologists, restoration and / or conservation professionals, the fundamentals of each of the techniques, with special emphasis on presenting the limits on what materials can be applied or what contamination can affect the final result. A very important aspect to address is which sampling techniques are the most appropriate for each of the dating methods presented.
