Impresor en Salónica. Era miembro de la familia Askenazi, impresores originarios de Amsterdam que se instalaron en Salónica en 1731. Es el padre del impresor y periodista Sa'adi Haleví Ashkenazí y bisabuelo del periodista Moís Levi.
De su imprenta salieron, entre otras obras, la Hagadá de Pésah.Otros impresores del mismo texto fueron Yosef Moljo, Shabetay Alaluf, Joseph Couenca, las imprentas Bezés y Brodo, la sociedad 'Es haHayim, o el impresor contemporáneo B. Schiby.
