A Recacha

The camp of A Recacha was first documented in the years 1999 and 2000 in the archaeological inventory of Ibias done by J. A. Ron Tejedo and Navia de Auarna (by L. F. López of Terra-Arqueos). The study of this camp took place between 2014 and 2016, as a continuation of that of A Granda das Xarras. This included photointerpretation, LiDAR documentation, surface microtopography, archaeological surveys and sondages.

A Recacha is built on a spur jutting out over the valley of the Balouta. The enclosure shape adapts to this irregular terrain throughout its 0.8 Ha. The perimeter, except in the two places which were most likely access points, is clearly visible in the form of ditch and embankment. In the northern and north-eastern part the defenses are more prominent, which prompted the archaeological sondage to be done there. The fossa reaches 0.6 m deep, and the extracted material formed the embankment, which gets to be 1 m high. The highest part of A Recacha also appears to have formed an internal enclosure of some kind.

Among the material recovered we can highlight several stakes for tents.
